Day to Day September 8th...

We tried tummy time today. You lasted about 2 minutes. You can fall asleep on your tummy but you don't like it when you are awake.
We also found out from your Daddy teasing you ;) That when you are asleep and we touch your lips you pull a funny lip face every time. It's fun for us but maybe not for you so much. Mommy had to catch some pics of course.

Birth Story

Okay I wanted to record her birth story somewhere and this seems like the logical place :)

I'm pretty sure it all started with my Dr's appointment on Wednesday August 17th. I went in for my 38 week check. I felt like there were changes happening, so I was getting my hopes up that Dr. Jiricko would tell me that I had dilated to something more than a 1. She checked me and got a really sad look on her face and said you haven't changed at all. She tried to stretch my cervix, but said that it was still to high so she couldn't do anything. That was the first time that I actually cried when she left the room. I was just hoping that there had been some kind of change, even if it was just little. I didn't mind being pregnant, but for any women that has been pregnant, there comes a point that you just want your body back. If that makes sense. I went to my mom's house on my way home and told her what happened. She told me that I looked miserable. I said not miserable just ready to have this little one.
I woke up the next morning and thought that my water had broke, I went into work and had Dr. McCulloch (Dr. Jiricko's friend) check me to see if that was really what happened. She said it was a false alarm. I started noticing some cramping/contractions after that but they were at least 20 minutes apart. I emailed Erika and Dr. Jiricko to ask them for advise. They told me to watch and see if the contractions get stronger and closer together. All day they didn't get closer or stronger but they stayed consistently 20-25 minutes apart. I talked to Lori to see if I should go into Labor and Delivery and she said to call Dr. Jiricko. I had to travel down the canyon so I wasn't taking any chances so I wanted to check all my bases. Dr. Jiricko said to come down to the hospital if the contractions became closer to 5 minutes apart. I had a work lunch party at Olive Garden and everyone noticed that I didn't really have as much of an appetite as normal so they all started teasing me that you were going to come sooner rather then later. I went home and got ready for the Baby Shower that the ward was throwing for me. I sat and talked to all the sweet ladies all the time watching the clock that I could see and noticed that the contractions started to become about 15 minutes apart around 7:30pm. I went home and showered to see if that would make me feel better. By 11 I noticed that the contractions were definitely getting stronger and were 11-12 minutes apart. I called my mom and told her to be on standby that this could be it. She said she would keep her cell phone close. I laid down to try and sleep the contractions woke me up about 12:30. I timed them again for about an hour and they were 6-8 minutes apart. I woke Lonnie up about 1:30 and we grabbed the hospital bag and he packed a bag and we left for the hospital about 2:00 and arrived and checked in at McKay Dee Hospital at 3:01am.
Lonnie said "I have driven that route through the canyon so many times and it seemed short - until you are timing contractions and then it seems like it took FOREVER!!"
By the time we were 10 minutes from the hospital the contractions were 2-3 minutes apart. When I was checked after getting checked in to Labor and Delivery I was dilated to a 3+ the nurse called Dr. Jiricko and she wanted me to walk around for about an hour to see if I dilate to a 4. I walked around the halls on the deliver floor and every time I came to the nurses station I had a bad contraction it always seemed to happen right in front of the desk the nurse said that I looked like I was in a lot of pain so she checked me after 40 minutes of walking and I had dilated to a 4+. She called Jiricko again and she had me admitted.
They attempted to put the IV in at this point, in my hand. They tried 3 times. It was awful. I was screaming in pain that was almost worse then my worst contractions. They finally called in the Lead Nurse and she was able to get the IV in on the side of my right hand. It was so painful, the IV was the last thing I expected to hurt. At this point they took me up to the delivery room we would stay in for the rest of the day. The MA went to help me move to the bed and went to grab my right hand and I about screamed again, she felt horrible that she would have hurt me. It was still really tender. Lonnie called my Mom at about this time to let her know that we were staying and having this baby today!! I asked the MA before we went to the room if/when I could get the Epidural at this point. She said that I was progressing fast enough I could get it anytime now. I said I want it now please :) She paged the Anesthesiologist on our way up to the room.
My Mom & Dad arrived about 5:00 just in time for the Epidural. Dad couldn't handle watching this so he went to our car and got our bags as an excuse to miss it ;)
I held Lonnie and my Mom's hand and put my legs up on there knee's to help me feel better about not moving. I had 2 contractions while I was getting my epidural. I only felt a little pinch and a little bit of movement. That was supposed to be the worst part. I was more nervous about getting that then anything else, I totally didn't need to worry about that. When the anesthesiologist was done he had me roll onto my back and by the time my next contraction, which was within minutes, came he asked me if I felt that.... I said felt what??? It was amazing that I couldn't feel the contractions after that. I thanked him multiple times!!! I was definitely a happy camper after that!

The Nurse checked me after that and I was dilated to a 5+. Lori came about this point to be with us when I delivered to help.
They started monitoring babies heart rate and at this point they got a little bit concerned so they put me on oxygen to help and started "buzzing" my belly to wake her(baby)up.

The nurse checked me again at this point and was going to try and tickle her head to see if that would help and she broke my water by accident. I immediately dilated to a 6+. Jiricko order an Internal FSM (Fetal Stress Monitor)to watch her(babies) heart rate better. The resident tried to place it on her head 4 times, which was upsetting me because it was a little cork screw pin that they put on your scalp so that would mean you would have multiple marks on your tiny little head. They thought they finally had it attached but every time I had a contraction it would stop monitoring. Jiricko later explained that the cervix was pushing on the monitor causing it to not read right. This was about 8:00am. Jiricko came in and messed with the monitor and attached it better and checked me I was dilated to a 9 at this point (9:00am) I stayed at a 9 for a while. 1-2 hours in fact. We watched, well I should say Lonnie and my parents, Lori and Jayci watched a really cool thunder/lightening storm from our room it was pretty cool. I closed my eyes to rest and just listened to everything. I pushed the epidural button a lot because my right leg was started to come out of the numbing, I would get a shooting pain from my hip to my knee with every contraction. The nurses helped me roll over to my right side to see if it would help. It helped a little bit but not completely.
Lonnie "Dad" wrote on the chart on the wall under "Your Expectations": Less waiting. So cute. We were both so excited to meet you :)
At about 11am Jiricko came in and had me start some "Trial pushing" but she said the babies head keeps getting stuck just above her ears. She had me and baby rest for about 30 minutes to see if that would help. Jiricko came back in about 12 and Lori helped me start pushing again. I pushed a few times and then the nurse, Lynette, said "Okay one more mother of all pushes" and we heard her cry for the 1st time(caught on video) @ 12:23pm.
It was amazing!!! They had your Dad come and watch and he was in awe and watched you be delivered. Your Dad was so cute, we both cried when we saw you for the first time. You only cried when you were cold.
Jiricko put you on my chest immediately after you were born after holding you up and waving at me and saying hi. So sweet!

The best moment of my life holding you for the first time and your tiny little hand holding your Dad's finger.

They cleaned you up and "Dad" cut the umbilical cord. They took you to be weighed and measured. Your official birth weight 7.02 lbs. and 19.5 inches long. You were so tiny and precious.

While they were checking you out under the heat lamps you found the plexiglass edge and pushed your little feet against it for comfort, just like you always did against my hand in my belly. It was so amazing to see.

They were a little concerned about your color so they brought you back to me so I could hold you "skin to skin" to warm you up faster and better.

You had your first bath and didn't like it at all!! You pretty much screamed the whole time I think mainly because they aren't very gentle with you for your first bath so it wasn't very fun for you.

Your first visitors came during your bath so all they saw and heard was how loud you could be. Your grandma and grandpa Charlton and your Aunt and Uncle Blake and Lorrie came.
Visitors at the hospital were:
Grandma and Grandpa Hendrix
Aunt Jayci (Uncle Chase left for his internship at 7am today so he didn't get to meet you right away)
Aunt Katie and Uncle Layne
Aunt Kathy and Uncle Ladd
Grandma and Grandpa Charlton
Great G & Young
Amie Smith (Mom's friend)
Erika Sullivan (Mom's friend)
Aunt Denette
Aunt Becca and Uncle Justin
Aunt Stacey and Uncle Jordan

We loved holding you especially your Dad!!

Day to Day September 1st...

Well we have decided to stop breast feeding now. You are doing so much better on formula and Daddy gets to help feed you... He loves it. I love it to because it was just not work for me at all. We would cry together during feeding times. Bottle is so much better for us. :) You are still sleeping so sweetly. We have just been taking it easy together. You had your 10 day check up and are doing great and have a 2 week check up next week. You are growing and gaining weight so you are pretty healthy.
You are our little burrito. You love being wrapped up when you sleep. But if you are awake you don't want to be confined at all!
